A Publication About Everything New & Growing In Amarillo

Good Morning,

Oh, the controversy! To be honest, we never intended to bring any controversy to the table with our content, despite this new social media era where that seems to be the trend. However, we received feedback that suggests EV is a controversial topic for some viewers, despite the many requests we received to update our viewers on the topic and how Amarillo tends to grow and evolve with EV, as signs show the US is slowly moving in that direction.

We do understand that the panhandle has centered and may continue to center itself around oil. Our intention is never to sway your opinion on something, but rather to provide you with the information our followers ask for and continue to provide information we feel will be beneficial to the residents of Amarillo and help Amarillo grow!

How to get charging set up at your home

Setting up EV charging at home requires some planning and installation. Here are the basic steps to set up EV charging at your home:

  1. Determine your charging needs: First, you need to determine how much charging capacity you need based on the range of your electric vehicle, your daily driving habits, and your budget. You can consult your vehicle's manual or the manufacturer's website to find out the recommended charging capacity.

  2. Choose the right charging equipment: There are two main types of home charging equipment: Level 1 and Level 2. Level 1 chargers use a standard 120-volt outlet and can take up to 24 hours to fully charge your vehicle. Level 2 chargers require a dedicated 240-volt circuit and can charge your vehicle up to six times faster than a Level 1 charger. Choose the right equipment based on your charging needs and the availability of a suitable power source.

  3. Hire a licensed electrician: Installing a charging station requires electrical work that should be performed by a licensed electrician. The electrician can evaluate your home's electrical capacity and install the necessary wiring and electrical panel upgrades to support the charging equipment.

  4. Obtain necessary permits: Depending on your set up, you may need to obtain permits before installing the charging equipment.

  5. Install the charging equipment: Once you have the necessary permits and electrical upgrades, the electrician can install the charging equipment according to the manufacturer's instructions.

  6. Test the charging equipment: Before using the charging equipment, test it to make sure it's working properly and charging your vehicle at the desired rate.

By following these steps, you can set up EV charging at your home and enjoy the convenience of charging your vehicle in your own garage or driveway.

Next week we will discuss the cost and efficiency of charging your vehicle at home versus a charging station.

Next week we will provide information on:

  • The cost to charge at home versus at a station

  • How long it takes to charge a vehicle at home versus a station

  • Will Xcel provide any discounts on electricity for setting up an EV charger at home?

A New Name For The Sod Poodles

As mentioned last week, the Sod Poodles have a new alternate identity called the Amarillo Calf Fries, but they will still keep their original name. They will play six games under this new identity this year to engage more fans locally and nationally. We think the new name is fitting for Amarillo and a great way to promote the team. The idea was to engage more fans locally and nationally and if you know what we stand for and our goal this is a great thing.

To achieve this goal, the Sod Poodles have introduced new jerseys and hats with different colors and logos, which fans can purchase to represent the Calf Fries' new identity. You can find and buy them using the link below.

This week they has a new apparel release if you would like to grab their new on field attire.

On April 15, the first Calf Fries Night of the season will take place during the game against the Corpus Christi Hooks. Additional Calf Fries Nights are scheduled for May 13, June 15, July 16, August 4, and August 31. Also, as part of the 2023 promotional schedule, the team will be giving away a Calf Fries replica jersey to the first 1,500 fans in attendance on Sunday, June 4.

We would assume that on these nights there will be some delicious calf fries available for purchase throughout the ball park!
