Helping The Panhandle Recover

A Publication About Everything New & Growing In Amarillo
Good Morning,
Please Share This To Share Information To Others On How They Can Help Local Communities Recover From The Recent Weather.
We have had a change in the normal outline for our newsletter this week as we reflect on the weather that has affected the Panhandle over the last few weeks.
As we know, the rainfall we have seen in a month's span has been like nothing we have witnessed since 1951. The Panhandle has experienced showers of tennis ball-sized hail, and Perryton was hit by a devastating tornado.
Rather than providing information that many other channels have already shared, we thought it would be best to use our platform to shed light on how others have helped and provide information on how, as a community, we can assist in the Panhandle's recovery.

How You Can Help
There are several ways that we have found that you can currently help the community get back on their feet from the recent weather. We have listed the oppurtunity to help in bold and more information regarding that oppurtunity below that title.
Help Amarillo Recover from the Recent Flood: Donate and Volunteer
As Amarillo begins its recovery from the recent devastating flood, the community is rallying together to provide support to those affected. If you are looking for ways to help, here are some donation and volunteer opportunities:
Donations
Clothing: Donations of clothing are greatly appreciated. Consider providing clean, gently used clothing for individuals and families in need.
Household Items: Many households have lost essential items due to the flood. Donations of household items such as furniture, kitchenware, and bedding are in high demand.
Hygiene Products: Personal hygiene items like toiletries, diapers, and sanitary products are essential for individuals and families affected by the flood.
Monetary Donations: Financial assistance is crucial during these challenging times. Monetary donations are preferred as they allow organizations to allocate resources based on immediate needs. You can make monetary donations through the Amarillo Area Foundation.
Donations can be dropped off at the Downtown Women's Shelter located at: 409 S Monroe St Amarillo, TX Contact: (806) 372-3625
Volunteers
If you have the time and energy to contribute, volunteering your services can make a significant impact. The following volunteer opportunities are available:
Mucking Out and Cleaning Damaged Homes: Groups of volunteers are needed to assist with mucking out and cleaning homes affected by the flood. This crucial task helps families get back on their feet and rebuild their lives.
If you are a business or organization wishing to help, please contact the local Volunteer Organization Active in Disaster (VOAD). They will provide guidance on the best way for you to get involved and make a difference.
Together, we can support Amarillo's recovery and provide much-needed assistance to those affected by the recent flood. Your generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand will make a tremendous difference in the lives of our community members.
McDonald Lake Clean Up
The McDonald Lake Cleanup will be held Saturday, June 24 from 9 a.m. to noon, and bags, gloves and refreshments will be provided for that clean-up event as well. Meeting point is the corner of Coulter and 45th streets.
