Amarillo Sod Poodles

We have tons of new subscribers from outside our city, which is fantastic! We have decided that since we are a page focused on our city's growth and news, it would be doing an injustice not to provide these subscribers from other cities with some background information about our Sod Poodles, our great new stadium, and their opportunity to expand their business and advertise with the Sod Poodles. So here it is!

History: The Amarillo Sod Poodles are a relatively new minor league baseball team, having been founded in 2018. In their first season, they won the Texas League championship, becoming the first team in the league's history to win a championship in their inaugural season. The team's name, "Sod Poodles," was chosen through a fan vote and refers to a type of prairie dog found in the Texas panhandle. Despite being a relatively new team, the Sod Poodles have quickly become a beloved part of the Amarillo community, with their fun-loving spirit and commitment to excellence on and off the field.

Stadium: The Sod Poodles play their home games at Hodgetown, a beautiful and state-of-the-art stadium that opened in 2019. With a seating capacity of 6,500, Hodgetown is the perfect place to catch a game with family and friends. The stadium features a range of amenities, including a restaurant, luxury suites, and a party deck, and offers a comfortable and enjoyable experience for fans of all ages. From the perfectly manicured field to the stunning views of the Texas sky, Hodgetown is a true gem of a ballpark.

On-field success: Since their championship win in 2019, the Sod Poodles have continued to field competitive and talented teams. While the 2020 season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the team returned to the field in 2021 with renewed energy and enthusiasm. Led by a talented roster of players and coaches, the Sod Poodles once again proved their mettle on the field, finishing the season with a solid record and giving fans plenty to cheer about. With their winning spirit and commitment to excellence, the Sod Poodles are a team to watch for years to come.

If you are a business looking to advertise with the Sod Poodles and want to be connected with the right person, please use the contact form below so we can provide information on who to contact via email.

Presidents Day

As you already know, many businesses will be closed on Presidents Day, but many of us may still need to get around this upcoming Monday. Here at Grow Amarillo, we have put together a list of important business closures to hopefully help you avoid wasting time traveling to a business that is closed.

  1. Government offices: All non-essential federal government offices are closed on Presidents Day. This includes post offices, courts, and most government agencies.

  2. Banks: Many banks, including national banks and credit unions, are closed on Presidents Day. However, some may choose to remain open or offer limited services, so it's best to check with your specific bank to confirm their hours on the holiday..

  3. Schools: Most public and private schools, including colleges and universities, are closed on Presidents Day. This gives students and faculty a much-needed break and a chance to honor the contributions of past U.S. presidents.

  4. Libraries: Many public libraries are closed on Presidents Day, although some may remain open with limited hours or services.

  5. Some retail stores and restaurants: While many retail stores and restaurants remain open on Presidents Day, some may choose to close or offer limited hours. It's best to check with individual stores and restaurants to confirm their hours on the holiday.
